About Bron...

Bron Stofberg enters the contemporary art scene with a fresh, distinctive style that is unmistakably her own.

Working primarily with oil-based paints on canvas, Bron has developed a unique, experimental technique that allows the paint to react, flow, pull, blend, speckle, and merge organically. The result is a luminous surface with an irresistible glossy, “wet-look” finish that draws viewers in—often inviting them to inspect the work nose-to-canvas, tempted to reach out and touch.

Remarkably, Bron’s process involves no traditional paintbrushes. Instead, she works intuitively with poured paint, palette knives, hairdryers, and a variety of everyday household tools, embracing chance and movement as essential elements of her practice.

Today, Bron works across a wide range of mediums including acrylics, oils, inks, resin, watercolour, and even wool. This versatility allows her to create cohesive collections for entire homes, telling a visual story without ever repeating a single style.

Each original artwork is custom-created to suit the client’s preferred size, colour palette, and aesthetic, ensuring every piece is truly one of a kind.

Bron’s artworks grace many upmarket homes throughout South Africa, with numerous pieces also finding their way to international collections.

In 2007, Bron was commissioned by leading Umhlanga-based interior design firm Horak Venter to create two large-scale custom artworks for a post-production house in Soho, London, co-owned by Madonna. The brief was precise—and creatively challenging: two four-metre-long works, painted exclusively in green and white, incorporating the theme of film.

Embracing the challenge, Bron developed the concept of a textured film reel that graduated from light to dark green, integrating the company’s logo to add a personal narrative. The final result was a striking pair of mirror-image paintings, moving in opposite directions. Once completed, the works were carefully shipped to London, marking a significant milestone in her artistic journey.
